Houston Greenleaf Enterprises acquired by Grounds Control USA

June 1, 2020

HOUSTON, TX (June 3, 2020) – Gilbert & Pardue Business Advisors (GaP) acted as exclusive advisor to Houston Greenleaf Enterprises (Green Leaf) of Houston, TX in its sale to Grounds Control USA (GCUSA) of Charleston, SC. The transaction closed on June 1, 2020.

Houston Greenleaf Enterprises has kept the landscaping looking great for nearly 400 properties in southeast Houston for more than two decades. Customers in Clear Lake, League City, Kemah, Friendswood, Pearland, Seabrook, Webster, Dickinson, and Texas City have come to trust the expertise, dedication, reliability, and professional approach Green Leaf provides when caring for lawns and landscapes.

Grounds Control USA is the nation's premier Exterior Maintenance Service Company offering landscaping, snow and ice removal, and parking lot maintenance. Founded in 2015 as a grass-roots start-up, GCUSA has grown to over 5000 client locations in all 50 states.

Sharla Pottieger, President of GCUSA stated, "Houston Greenleaf Enterprises has established itself as the preeminent leader of landscape services in the southeast Houston market. We see great opportunities to leverage our respective client bases and to expand not only our presence in Houston but also our National Accounts model." Don Pottieger, Jr., CEO of GCUSA added, "Green Leaf is the perfect fit from a cultural standpoint to be the first of 14 acquisitions that we plan to execute over the next couple of years. In our efforts to grow, we will be using Green Leaf as the model for future acquisitions in 13 other US regions."

Matt Gilbert, Founding Partner of GaP commented, “Tom Farinacci and his team at Green Leaf have built a great business serving his hometown community with military precision. GaP was honored to represent their interests in locating the perfect buyer to continue Tom’s legacy. Several established businesses expressed acquisition interest and participated in the process. In the end, GCUSA offered the most complete and attractive package – cultural fit, competitive price, deal structure, ability to retain Green Leaf’s employees and customers, and strategic vision for continued successful growth. COVID-19 presented a unique set of challenges to due diligence such as travel limitations and lenders/attorneys transitioning to remote workplaces. However, all parties patiently worked together to close in a timely and efficient manner. This transaction represents a win-win scenario for our client, their employees and customers, and similar GCUSA stakeholders.”
