Tom Matura is a Senior Financial Advisor for Gilbert & Pardue Business Advisors (GaP). Tom utilizes his 25+ years of accounting experience to help GaP’s clients achieve their financial, growth, and exit strategy goals. He enjoys working hands-on with small and mid-sized public and privately-held businesses.
Prior to GaP, Mr. Matura served as Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) for a privately-held water logistics company. In this role, Tom managed the accounting details for five significant acquisitions, completed restructuring of the core accounting system, and implemented a software conversion. During the conversion, he carved out the company’s financials into 30+ separate divisions. And within the first two months of consulting/joining the company, he managed their first successful third-party financial statement audit and a private S1 registration.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Matura served as principal accounting officer, corporate controller and consultant for an AMEX-listed public company in the communications/broadband industry. Tom’s expertise and responsibilities included preparation of consolidated primary financial statements, footnotes, and Management’s Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) for SEC required 10K, 10Q, 8K, and S-1 filings. He authored process documentation and managed a successful Sarbanes-Oxley 404 internal control implementation.
Mr. Matura has also served as a business unit controller, plant controller, and accounting manager for an NYSE-listed public company in the manufacturing industry. One of Tom’s successful projects for this company was originating and effectively implementing a standard cost accounting system for inventory in production plants with combined revenue in excess of $150M.
Mr. Matura’s career has provided him numerous opportunities to guide business owners and their management teams in areas such as operational efficiencies, process improvements, strategic growth, accounting analysis, and mergers and acquisitions. He has managed quarterly and yearly derivative, asset, and equity valuations and written applicable footnote disclosures. Tom has spent time helping clients focus on turning financial data into management tools in order to achieve growth goals. His specialties also include IPO readiness, SEC reporting, and transactional services in the energy services, communications, and manufacturing industries.
Mr. Matura holds a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Houston. He serves as an advisor on several boards. Tom enjoys family, traveling, saltwater fishing, and sharing time with friends on Lake Travis.
